Where to go

Dubai Metro Destinations

A familiar place name on the Metro map is a starting point, not always the front door. This guide pairs popular areas with useful stations and flags where the last part of the trip may still involve a walk, the Tram, a bus or a taxi.

Downtown Dubai and major malls

For Downtown, use Burj Khalifa / Dubai Mall station and allow time for the signed connection beyond the platform. Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Deira and Ibn Battuta also have stations bearing the destination name, although choosing the right exit and entrance still matters.

Business districts and event venues

The Red Line follows Sheikh Zayed Road past World Trade Center, Emirates Towers, Financial Centre and Business Bay. Dubai Internet City is farther south on the same line.

These are large districts rather than single venues. For DIFC or Business Bay in particular, check the building address before choosing a station; the wrong side of the district can add a long walk or a local connection.

Old Dubai and the historic souqs

Gold Souq and Al Ras are useful for the older Deira side of the Creek. Al Gubaiba and Sharaf DG cover different parts of Bur Dubai. The four stations are close enough on a map to look interchangeable, but they are not: choose from the actual souq, museum or waterfront address you plan to visit.

Al Jaddaf and Dubai Festival City

Creek (G30), at the Al Jaddaf end of the Green Line, is about one minute from Al Jaddaf Marine Station according to RTA. The marine station provides an onward abra link to Dubai Festival City.

Creek station is not a direct Metro stop for historic Old Dubai or Dubai Creek Harbour. Dubai Creek Harbour is instead part of the future Blue Line project, so do not select Creek (G30) solely because the names look similar.

Dubai Marina and Tram connections

Sobha Realty and DMCC are the two Red Line stations with Dubai Tram interchange. They are the main Metro starting points for Dubai Marina and onward Tram trips towards JBR, but the better station depends on the exact tower, hotel or beach access.

Older maps or searches may call Sobha Realty “Dubai Marina” or “DAMAC Properties” and DMCC “Jumeirah Lakes Towers”. Use the current names on platform signs and route results.

Airports and Expo City

DXB Terminals 1 and 3 have named Red Line stations. Terminal 2 does not. EXPO 2020 station is the Red Line station for the Expo City area and is also one of the points Dubai Airports identifies for an onward road connection to DWC.

Change between Metro lines

Union and BurJuman are the current Red–Green interchange stations. A route to a Green Line destination from the Red Line, or vice versa, will normally use one of these stations; let the route planner choose the sequence for the selected origin and destination.

Plan the final connection

Start with the Metro route, but finish the plan at the actual venue address. Check the station exit, walking distance and any bus, Tram or taxi leg separately. For a time-critical arrival, also check current operating hours and service notices.
