Dubai has seven geographic public-transport zones, but Metro fares use three journey tiers. Tier 1 covers travel within one zone and trips shorter than 3 km that cross two zones. Tier 2 covers two neighbouring zones outside that short-trip exception. Tier 3 covers journeys through more than two zones. The calculator below applies the stored route and shows a range when the short-trip exception cannot be verified.
RTA requires the next mode to be boarded within 30 minutes. A journey may include up to three transfers and must be completed within 180 minutes.

The route planner follows the network and determines the fare zones used. When a two-zone trip may fall under the official under-3-km exception but no route distance is stored, it shows the official possible range instead of guessing.
